About the project
A motivation, a desire, a need for sharing, a limitless passion. Even though these last few years have been very successful for me in terms of results, I currently do not have any financial partner supporting me! Training on a daily basis without having the financial insurance to take part in the next race, even though I'm one of the best, is a tough feeling.
My name is Eric Deguil, I am 35 and am 4 times Extreme Kayak World champion, 2 times winner of the mythic Green Race and winner of the 2016 European championship. Anyway, the trophies have no importance if I don't get the opportunity to practice my sport! Let's be audacious and realise the impossible while we still can.
My passion for extreme kayaking has allowed me to live amazing experiences! In 2009, I had the chance to be part of the Volcano Ride. The objective was to ride down the Fogo, an active Volcano in Cape Verde accompanied by Camille de Faucompret. The result: amazing memories and incredible images. We are, with Camille, the first athletes in history to ride down an active volcano.
I am on the World Kayaking Tour since 2011. My first title was in 2009 with my team: the Pyrénées Extreme Kayak. In 2010, a serious injury kept me away from the rivers for over 3 months, which I came back from with enormous motivation and energy!
🏆 The following years allowed me to fill in the trophy cabinet. Indeed, I won my first World Championship in 2011 followed by others in 2012, 2014 & 2016.
🎯 This year is time for a new challenge! The objective is simple: set the record for elevation difference in extreme kayaking in 24 hours. My goal is to reach over 2000 meters of elevation difference. This attempt will be made on the Brandseth river in Norway (Vossvangen region). Why Norway? Simply because at the summer solstice, night never falls, which will be highly helpful for the attempt.
Rendez-vous end of June/beginning of July at 12pm, on the day the river will have the optimal level (mother nature is the one deciding)
In order to follow the evolution of my attempt, my friends and I will be equipped with a GPS tracker, feeding live information.
A few stats: to cumulate 2000 meters of elevation difference, I will have to go down the Brandseth river 16 times (and go back up 15).
A filming crew will follow us for the entire attempt in order to make a documentary that will be broadcasted in festivals and TV channels.
The team will be composed of Jonas Le Morvan, Jacques Gilardone, Nicolas Caussanel & Dag Sandvik.
However, I won't be able to do it without you! Indeed, I need to raise 4500€ in 30 days in order to realise the project.
This attempt is the first step to a long-term project: paddle down the 441km of the Grand Canyon in 30 hours.
🙏 Thank you to all the ones supporting me, I count on you !
This crowdfunding campaign's objective is to raise 4500€ in 30 days. Sponsorise.me follows the concept of 'all or nothing:' I need to reach 4500€ in order to unlock the funds. That is why I need you!
The funds raised will go towards covering the following expenses:
- Transport from Pau to Voss in Norway: Highway (180€), fuel (850€) & Ferry for the van (500€).
- Rental of the tracker (500€)
- Funding the filming crew (2470€)
