About the project
🏉 Bolton Rugby Union FC is a Community Rugby club based in the North West of England. 🏉 We have been in existence since 1872 and moved to our current location in 1988.
We have 4 senior and 12 junior teams, a ladies rugby & fitness group as well as a Casual Rugby team : “the Bolton Mammoths“. All these teams add up to over 350 playing members.
At Bolton both the pitches and the infrastructure is superb. The club is ever present in the local community providing over 2000 hours of coaching hours in local schools for both boys and girls, from every background as well as people with disabilities.
However, we need your support to improve the training equipment of our junior teams. Indeed, we want them to improve their skills and enjoy their rugby in full safety.
🎯 The objective of this crowdfunding campaign is to raise money in order to purchase tackling bags and shields so we can reduce the number of injuries during training. We also want to purchase training and fitness equipment in order to improve training sessions, which will help us move to the next level.
👉 We need you for that ! This campaign is shared to relatives of our members, the community of the club and rugby fans in general, willing to contribute to the success of our juniors.
💪 In 2015/16 both our Under 17s and Under 18s won their leagues and reached their cup finals. The Under 8s completed their season unbeaten and we had numerous achievements and successes across all teams. If we can achieve that with the youngest and oldest Junior teams with old and damaged equipment and with nothing for teams to use to warm up at matches just think what a difference YOU can make helping the players get proper equipment.
🙏 Every contribution is welcome, thanks to everyone !
This campaign's objective : raise £3000 in 40 days. Sponsorise.me follows the “all or nothing“ policy. We need to reach the £3000 in order to receive the funds raised. That's why we need all of you !
Our tackle bags are like our supporters in "Compost Corner", they are past their best but keep on giving.
To develop the skills of our ever growing number of Junior players, we need to give them the right tools to do the job they are working towards.
Your support will give each team their own tackle shields suitable for their age and size. Plus provide a shared resource of
• tackle suits so our young players can learn in safety and reduce any injuries caused by poor technique
• fitness equipment so they are Match Fit and Rugby Ready
Your support can move us from where we are now with lots of old equipment and some of better quality all jumbled up together to each team being able to work on their skills at the same time with good and safe equipment that is up to the task. This is where we want to be and the players deserve to be
From 30th March to 12th May - we need YOUR support
(Please Note: no money will be taken from your account UNLESS we reach our target)
I have played rugby since the age of 9 playing for both local teams and also teams in Wales; where I was the only Englishman to take part in a Welsh representative game.
Rugby has always been the steadfast thing in my life providing fun and enjoyment, good lifelong friends and a place to belong.
My son also started playing at the same age and from 1997 to 2016 I helped coach and manage his team as they came through the Junior ranks. I am a proud Dad being able to say he has played for ever team in the club from Under 9s to 1st XV.
I have been on the Committee for several years as Deputy Junior Chairman and this year my role is Community Development; helping the club to be a presence in the community and to bring in new players.
Rugby is a tremendous sport with a place for all both off and on the pitch. It has been a source of many happy great memories from meeting players such as Fran Cotton, Jason Robinson, Will Greenwood, Dave Ward of Harlequins, some of the Lions in 2013 and most recently Lewis Moody. Links with Sale Sharks has resulted in more players than ever visiting our club.
Perhaps the most memorable event was receiving the Community Sports and Recreation Alliance aware for School Links from HRH The Duke of Wessex.
The high point will be, of course, helping to raise £3000 for new training and fitness equipment for today's and tomorrow's players. I can't do that without YOU so please help me and the Bolton players out by being as generous as you can and sharing this page with all your friends and family.
