1. Does Sponsorise.Me use any credit agencies or do any credit checks on users?

Absolutely not. We do not use credit agencies and do not perform any credit checks.

2. Why does Sponsorise.me provide my details to third parties?

We only share information with two types of company: our payment partners; and the companies that provide boosts to certain project owners.

Our trusted payment partners are currently:
• Stripe in the USA and Canada;
• Mangopay in France, the UK, Spain and South Africa; and
• HiPay in Brazil and Mexico.

Our trusted boost providers are currently:
• BNP Paribas, Cofidis AG2R La Mondiale, Societe Generale, Powerade and Intersport in France; and
• Powerade in the UK, Mexico, Brazil, Spain and South Africa.

3. Who are Sponsorise.me’s subsidiaries?

Our website is run by Sponsorise.Me S.A. a company registered in France with company number 519 499 677 and located at 1-3 Boulevard Richard Lenoir, 75001, Paris, France.
Sponsorise.Me S.A. has a wholly owned subsidiary based in the USA which runs the US based projects called Sponsorise.me America LLC which is located at 3339 Virginia Street, Miami, Florida 33133.

4. When would Sponsorise.me be under a duty to disclose or share my personal data?

If you are sponsoring a project your personal data will be shared with our payment partners and both project owners’ and sponsors’ may have personal data shared with the companies that are providing the boosts. For further information, please see question 2.
In addition to this, we may share personal data with law enforcement agencies and regulators in order to prevent, take action against or investigate situations regarding fraud or suspected fraud, illegal activities and to comply with relevant laws and regulations, all as detailed in our Privacy Policy.

5. Why is my data stored in the European Economic Area (EEA)?

The EEA is made up of 32 countries in Europe including the 28 members of the European Union.
Our main computer servers are based in Paris, France which is in the EEA. When you visit our website your computer accesses this server and any information you provide us with is stored here.
Personal data is taken very seriously in the EEA and as a result it has the strictest privacy and data protection laws anywhere in the world. We comply with all laws and regulations when looking after your data and at present do not send it outside of the EEA.

6. Why, as in every other commercial website, is my information not completely secure when I transfer it to Sponsorise.me?

The internet can at times be an unsafe environment. We spend a lot of time doing what we can to keep your data safe but no website can be 100% secure.

7. Why can’t Sponsorise.me guarantee the security of my data? And why is this my risk?

As per question 6, the internet is not always a safe environment. While we cannot guarantee the safety of your data we do what we can to keep it safe by using technology and software such as:
• SSL certification;
• URL access control;
• PDO prepared statements;
• time limited password reset tokens; and
• server rate limitation.

8. How long does Sponsorise.me store my information for?

We want you to have the best experience possible when using our website. We store some of your data so that you can quickly get involved with projects or review what you’ve done previously.
In line with our data retention policy and European law, we will only keep your data for as long as it is necessary to provide you our website’s services. If you would like your data deleted earlier please email us at CMEMEA@sponsorise.me

9. If my project is not financed, what happens to my personal information?

As per question 8, we will only keep your data for as long as it is necessary and as soon as reasonably possible we will delete it.

10. Does Sponsorise.me keep my payment information after my project is financed?

Payment information is stored by our payment partners. We choose our partners very carefully on several criteria including their ability to keep your data safe.

11. Why is my bank account information needed before my project is financed?

This is one of the many checks that we, and our payment partners, perform to ensure that project owners are who they say they are. Bank account information helps show us that you are a real person.
We will never take money from your bank account and will only use the information to provide you with funding if your project is financed.

12. Why do you require multiple forms of ID?

This helps prove to us that project owners really are who they say they are. Two forms of ID help us in this process thereby limiting the risk of fraud.

13. Why do I have to provide my Social Security Number?

This is a requirement of our payment partner in the USA, Stripe, as part of their checks to ensure that your money comes from a safe source.
